Dentistry’s Highest Honor Achieved

Palm Harbor, Fla. (July 9, 2015)— The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce that Dr. Oscar Menendez, DDS, MAGD of Palm Harbor received the association’s most prestigious “Mastership Award” at the AGD 2015 annual meeting, which took place in San Francisco at the end of June.

With only 1% of all dentists in the U.S. earning this title, the Mastership Award is the AGD’s highest honor and one of the most respected designations within the profession.

To earn this award, Dr. Menendez was required to complete 1,100 hours of dental continuing education. Dr. Menendez actually far exceeded these requirements.

“This award requires an extraordinary amount of time and effort,” says AGD Immediate Past President W. Carter Brown, DMD, FAGD. “Dr. Menendez should be commended for his unflagging commitment to continuing education, which allows him to provide the best possible dental care and oral health education to his patients.”

“I am truly honored to have achieved this designation,” comments Dr. Menendez, “It makes me proud knowing that I have gained superior knowledge and training to better serve my patients.”

In addition to his participation in the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Menendez is also an active member of the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Menendez also proudly served as 2012 President of the Upper Pinellas County Dental Association.

In fact, last year, the Florida Academy of General Dentistry awarded Dr. Menendez with the “Humanitarian of the Year Award for his numerous charitable and civic involvements. Dr. Menendez donates his time to Gulf Coast Dental Outreach, the Homeless Emergency Project, Give Kids a Smile and the Springtime City Kiwanis Health Fair. He was also recognized as the “Most Valuable Volunteer” for his many hours of participation in the Pinellas County's Healthy Teeth program.

Dr. Menendez also participated last year in the Florida Dental Association Mission of Mercy (MOM). He, along with his staff, worked 16 hours a day for 3 days and was one of the 2 clinical coordinators of this event that provided free dental care to approximately 2,000 people in Tampa Bay.
